Origin

The Crepidium is primarily a terrestrial orchid. They are native to Asia, Oceania and Africa. Although some species are associated with Malaxis, for example, Crepidium is the officially recognized taxonomic name. Examples of popular species are Crepidium orbiculare, Crepidium biauritum, Crepidium mackinnonii and the Crepidium calophyllum. We regularly have one or more of these unusual species in our assortment.

Care

The care of this orchid requires a little more attention. This is because the potting soil should not dry up completely between waterings, but it should also not be too wet before watering, as this can cause rotting. The humidity should ideally be 60-70%. Even in winter when watering should be reduced and nutrition should be phased out, the substrate should not dry out completely between waterings. Make sure the plant has a well-draining substrate. Use a substrate with at least half the minerals, such as sand or lava rock with fine pine bark.
