The Oeceoclades is a orchid most species of which are endemic to Madagascar. Another name for these orchids is also called "Monk Orchid." The Monk Orchid is largely a terrestrial genus and has about 40 species. It has many similarities to the Eulophia, yet in 1976 it was determined that the Oeceoclades is distinct from it. Popular species of this orchid are the Oeceoclades spathulifera, Oeceoclades maculata, Oeceoclades saundersiana and the Oeceoclades monophylla.
