The Brassanthe Maikai is perhaps the best-known and most sought-after cross of this hybrid orchid genus. It is a cross between a Brassavola nodosa and a Guarianthe bowringiana, first recorded by Hirose in 1944.
Another example is the popular orchid Brassanthe Bill Worsley, which was first registered by Fort Caroline in 1966. The Bill Worsley is a cross between a B. nodosa and a Guarianthe aurantiaca.
Characteristics
Brassanthe orchids are very similar in appearance to the Brassocattleya, with the Brassavola-like lip being quite distinctive.
