In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

The cross between Cattleya intermedia and Cattleya lueddemanniana combines the best of two South American orchid species. This hybrid is known for its striking flowers, soft fragrance and vigorous growth habit. Ideal for enthusiasts who love lush blooms and classic orchid beauty.

Origin

This hybrid originated from two botanical species both native to northern South America. Cattleya intermedia grows naturally in Brazil and Uruguay, often on tree branches in warm, moist forests. Cattleya lueddemanniana is found mainly in Venezuela and is known for its large, fragrant flowers. The combination of these two species results in a hybrid that is well adapted to warm conditions and exudes both elegance and robustness.

Characteristics

This hybrid produces medium to large flowers with wavy petals and a contrasting lip. Colors vary by individual, but often show soft pastel colors such as lilac, pale pink or cream with a deeper colored throat. The flowers have a light, sweet fragrance and usually appear in spring or early summer, depending on growing conditions. The plant develops firm, pointed leaves from elongated pseudobulbs, typical of Cattleyas.

Care

Light

This Cattleya hybrid likes plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight in the middle of the day. A bright windowsill facing east or west is ideal.

Temperature

Daytime temperatures between 20 and 28°C and nighttime temperatures not below 15°C are ideal. In summer it may be slightly warmer, provided there is sufficient air circulation.

Substrate

Use an aerated mixture of medium bark, possibly supplemented with a small amount of sphagnum or coconut chips for extra moisture retention.

Humidity

A humidity of 55-75% is ideal. If necessary, put in a humidifier or place the plant on a water-filled bowl of boulders.

Watering

Water as soon as the substrate is almost completely dry. Preferably use demineralized water or rainwater to avoid accumulation of salts.

Feeding

Feed weekly during the growth phase with a balanced orchid fertilizer in low concentration (¼ of the recommended dose). In winter, once a month or less is sufficient.

Flowering

Flowering usually occurs once a year on mature shoots, often in spring. After flowering, the flower stem dies and can be removed. Give the plant a rest, with less water, until new growth resumes.
