In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

A rare miniature orchid with a mysterious character: the Dendrobium fuscifaucium is a botanical gem for the lover of unique species. This species was described in 2022 and is currently known only from cultivation in Laos . Its compact size and delicate blooms make it ideal for cultivation in an orchid cabinet or terrarium.

Origin

This species was discovered in Laos and is currently known only from cultivation . Its natural habitat consists of limestone-rich mountain areas, which makes it suitable for cultivation in environments with high humidity and good air circulation.

Characteristics

Dendrobium fuscifaucium develops short, cylindrical stems only a few centimeters high, with narrow leaves and a creeping growth habit. The flowers are pink with a prominent deep-colored throat area with a yellow margin. The blooms usually appear in spring or early summer and remain beautiful for at least a few days. The maximum length of time the orchid can bloom remains to be seen, as there is not much data on this yet.

Care

Light

Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, especially in summer, to prevent leaf burn.

Temperature

This species prefers cool to moderate: temperatures between 15 and 25 °C are ideal. At night it may cool down to about 12 °C.

Substrate

Use fine bark material or sphagnum moss, preferably in a small pot or mounted on a piece of tree bark. Ensure good air circulation around the roots.

Humidity

High humidity (at least 70%) is essential for healthy growth. This species does well in an enclosed environment such as an orchid cabinet or paludarium.

Watering

Keep the substrate slightly moist but not wet. Allow the medium to dry briefly between waterings. Always use demineralized water (possibly mixed with clean rainwater), preferably at room temperature.

Nutrition

Feed sparingly during the growing season (spring to fall) with a highly diluted orchid fertilizer, for example once a month.

Flowering

Flowering usually appears in spring or early summer. The flowers remain beautiful for several days and sometimes appear intermittently. After flowering, a dormant period may occur in which water and nutrition are greatly reduced.
