In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

This cross between the botanical species Encyclia randii and the expressive hybrid Blc. Agatha produces a striking orchid that displays both elegance and character. Thanks to its hereditary background, this is a plant with vigorous flowering and captivating fragrance.

Origin

Encyclia randii is a natural species from Brazil, known for its delicate, star-shaped flowers and spicy fragrance. Its other parent, Blc. Agatha, is a well-known Cattleya hybrid (Brassavola × Laelia × Cattleya) bred for imposing flowers and richness of color. The combination of the two gives a hybrid with botanical stature and hefty ornamental value.

Characteristics

This plant forms sturdy, upright pseudobulbs with narrow lanceolate leaves. During flowering it produces several flowers per stem, often with a nice contrast between the narrow petals and a fuller, wavy lip.
Color varies from individual to individual, but you can usually count on shades of lavender, cream and pink. Some specimens are also slightly fragrant, especially in the morning hours.

Care

Light

Light location with filtered sunlight. An east or west-facing window is ideal. Avoid bright afternoon sun behind glass.

Temperature

Daytime temperatures between 20-25 °C, nights around 15-18 °C.

Substrate

Use an aerated orchid substrate based on fine to medium bark.

Humidity

Aim for an air humidity of 55-75%. For drier air, a humidifier or a bowl of water under the pot (without the roots in it) will help.

Nutrition

During the growing period (spring and summer) feed weekly with a diluted orchid fertilizer (¼ strength). In fall and winter less frequently.

Watering.

Allow the substrate to dry almost completely between waterings. Preferably use demineralized water at room temperature. Tap water is not recommended due to risk of mineral buildup in the roots.

Flowering

Typically blooms once a year with several flowers at a time, depending on care. The flowering period often falls in summer or fall. After flowering, do not remove the stem until it has completely withered.
