In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

Hoya multiflora is also called the "Shooting Star Hoya", and that's no coincidence. This plant surprises you with an abundance of star-shaped flowers that when in full bloom are reminiscent of tiny flares. Unlike many other Hoya's, this species flowers happily and often - an attractive choice for those looking for a vibrant, long-lasting bloomer.

Origin

This Hoya is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows in the warmer, moist lowlands of Malaysia and Indonesia, among others. In its natural habitat, it meanders along trees and shrubs, sheltered from direct sunlight.

Characteristics

What makes this species unique is its distinctive inflorescence. Hoya multiflora Develops long flower stalks with clusters of white-yellow flowers, each with a distinctive arrow-shaped appearance. The flowers have a subtle, pleasant fragrance and appear several times a year under good conditions. The lanceolate leaves are oblong, glossy green and slightly thick-fleshed. Unlike many other Hoya's, this species grows more upright and has less tendency to climb or droop.

Care

Light

Give this plant bright, indirect light. Too little light can delay or delay flowering. Avoid bright, direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Temperature

Hoya multiflora Likes warmth. A constant temperature between 18 and 27 °C is ideal. Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15 °C.

Substrate

Use an airy, well-draining mixture based on fine bark and coconut fiber, for example. The roots do not like prolonged wet feet.

Humidity

Medium to high humidity (around 60%) promotes both leaf growth and flowering. In drier air, use a humidifier or spray the plant regularly.

Nutrition

During the growing season (spring to fall), feed every two weeks with a balanced fertilizer for flowering houseplants. In winter, you may limit or pause this.

Watering

Keep the potting soil slightly moist but not wet. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry out between waterings. Preferably use demineralized water or clean rainwater at room temperature.

Flowering

When properly cared for Hoya multiflora several times a year. The flower stalks (peduncles) remain active: so do not remove them after flowering, as they will form flowers again. Light and nutrition are crucial for regular flowering.
