Origin and characteristics
The Dieffenbachia is a beautiful houseplant with often stable variegata spots naturally occurring in it. The plant occurs naturally in Central and South America. They are popular houseplants which are often easy to care for are. Heinrich Wilhelm Schott was the one who named this plant after Joseph Dieffenbach.
Care
Dieffenbachias can hardly tolerate temperatures below 5 degrees Celcius, so they are actually only suitable as houseplant with temperatures preferably between 17 and 27 degrees Celcius. In addition, they like a humidity of at least 55%. This houseplant is not toxic when touched, but can cause irritation when chewed, for example. So it is important to keep a close eye on children and animals such as dogs and cats.
