In our nursery we have various forms of one plant. Plants are living beings and so they are sometimes different. Variations in color and size are therefore possible.

The pictures shown with our products are sample pictures. These photos give a true picture of what the plant may look like when properly cared for. The specifications are leading for the plant received. Please read the characteristics carefully before ordering.

What are sample images?

We have an extremely large, extensive assortment with thousands of plants. In addition, because specific plants change in shape, color and size on a weekly basis, it is impossible for our small team to capture all specific plants. Each plant grows in a unique way, so it is perfectly normal that there may be differences in color, shape and size.

But because we do want to communicate clearly to you what to expect with a product, we have specifications for each plant that will give you a clear picture of what to expect.

It is therefore rare that you will receive the exact plant shown in the picture. If this is the case, it will be explicitly mentioned in the product description. Our goal is to ensure that you have a pleasant, green shopping experience and that you can shop with us worry-free.

For people who like to browse among the plants, we have a physical store. Check the contact page for opening hours and more info.

Description

This rare cross between Anoectochilus roxburghii and Ludisia discolor is also known in enthusiast circles as "Anoectochilus Spiderman", a nickname it owes to its spectacular leaf markings. The fine, sparkling veins in red gold running across the dark leaves are very reminiscent of a spider's web under light. This dramatic contrast makes it one of the most coveted jewel orchids among collectors.

Origin

The Anoectochilus Spiderman is an artificial cross of two botanical beauties from Southeast Asia. Both parent plants are known for their brilliant leaf texture and decorative value, but together they produce something exceptional - a compact orchid with deep, velvety leaves and an almost metallic grain.

Features

The leaves of this hybrid are deep dark in color, ranging from dark green to almost maroon, depending on the light. What makes the plant truly unique is the striking network of finely branched veins in a reddish or golden hue, which seem to glisten across the leaves when the sun or a grow light falls on them. This distinctive veining gives the plant its nickname "Spiderman" and makes each leaf a visual work of art. Its growth habit is low and creeping, making it ideal for a terrarium or as an eye-catcher in a smaller pot. Although the flowers are small and white, the real appeal comes from the lush leaf pattern that remains visible throughout each season.

Care

Light

Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burn. Artificial light is also excellent.

Temperature

Ideally between 18 and 25 °C. Protect from drafts and cold.

Substrate

Use an aerated substrate based on chopped bark, sphagnum or tree fern fiber. Avoid heavy or compact potting soil. Often this species grows finest in clean sphagnum moss.

Humidity

Preferably between 60 and 80%. A terrarium or glass bell helps maintain proper conditions.

Nutrition

Feed monthly with a diluted, high-quality orchid fertilizer (a quarter of the recommended strength) during the growing season.

Watering.

Keep the substrate slightly moist, but avoid wet feet. Preferably use demineralized water or clean rainwater.

Flowering

Although the flowers are small and subtle, they are often overshadowed by the decorative value of the foliage. Therefore, this orchid is mainly kept for its distinct leaf structure, which continues to fascinate even beyond the flowering period.
