In 2005, Claessen Orchids and Plants opened its doors. From a hobby that had gotten out of hand, Rik Claessen was finally able to make his dream come true: selling special orchids to people who share the same interest and passion. Through trial and error, the company has now grown into first and foremost a webshop, shipping plants throughout the EU.
But for Rik, customer contact is still one of the most enjoyable aspects of his business. That is why, despite the hustle and bustle, he cannot give up the store. So in addition to all other activities, Rik keeps the weekly opening hours of the physical store.
What's in the physical store?
In our physical store we have a display of some special houseplants from our assortment. Because our assortment is very large and some species require special care, not everything will be in the physical store. Plants can be requested by mail 24 hours in advance to put in the store, which can be prepared for you by staff.
Can I also see orchids?
There are a small number of flowering orchids in our physical store. These are completely random because we cannot keep all orchids in this location. Therefore, it is also not possible to view orchids other than those that are there at that time. This changes on a weekly basis.
Can the greenhouse also be visited?
Unfortunately, the greenhouse cannot be visited because we open the store alongside our other work. Employees working in the greenhouse will otherwise have to lay down their work, which will directly result in delays in orders or plant care. We do not have a solution for this for the time being, as we desperately need this time.
Why not open on Saturdays?
Currently, Rik's children are still very young. Since he cannot yet leave the children alone for a few hours, this will not be an issue for the time being.
For current opening hours and address, please check the contact page.
How can I pay in the physical store?
Because many businesses nowadays charge a lot of money to have a subscription to make debit card transactions, the low number of visitors makes it impossible to purchase a new ATM machine.
Thus, payments are only possible with cash for the time being.
Should there be a solution to this in the future, (or should we suddenly have a very large number of visitors, so that we no longer have to make a loss on this,) then we will certainly be open to purchasing a comprehensive device to make debit card transactions with.
